What do we do at Model UN?
Here at Ward Melville, each week, we try to best recreate an actual UN meeting. Each student is assigned a country which they will represent at the meetings. We assign a new topic for the "delegates" to research every week. At the end of each meeting we try to fix the problem at hand by voting on a resolution.
What is NHSMUN?
NHSMUN (National High School United Nations Conference is a mock conference similar to a conference they would have at a real United Nations Assembly. NHSMUN is a four day trip to New York City. For some important external links, see our "Conference" Page.
What do we hope to accomplish?
We simply wish to give our students a peek inside how the actual UN works. The students will become well versed in how a fucntioning UN meeting is supposed to run. We hope that the students will gain experiences in expressing opinions infront of crowds and actually trying to think of ways to solve our world's problems.
